New Voice and Data System w/ Wireless
Service Date
In service since 2007.
Business
Medical Practice.
Location
Clearwater, close to Morton Plant hospital.
Description
The customer had a vintage TIE Communications Key System (circa 1980).
They use dialup Internet access (via Juno) for batch claims
processing. The practice is expanding to include additional
doctors and multiple inbound trunk groups.
Installed a brand new, out-of-the-box, NEC hybrid
Key System/PBX. Brought in Knology to do the analog lines, data,
and TV for the waiting room. Installed a HIPAA-compliant
wireless access point to support mobile laptops. Worked with UHC
claims software to use a dedicated LAN connection versus dialup.
Their common fax line was a shared line appearance
on their old phone system, and was also shared with the modem for
dialup. Reconfigured the system such that it is now used for FAX
purposes only, with no share appearance on the phone system.
Notes
(1) PC environment is a mixture of both Mac and PC laptops and
desktops.
(2) Knology installed the system with two Telephone Adapter boxes, one
which had excessive ring voltage (caused other lines to ring also on
PBX).
(3) BrightHouse doesn't do business systems (at this time).
